Great location, good service, but please provide some non-smoking rooms
I have stayed in Guangzhou Victory hotel an several occassions. Whilst it is quite an old hotel, the location is great on the lovely Shamian island area of Guangzhou and only a very short walk from QingPing market which features an interesting mixture of Chinese medicines and animals in an authentic ''old Guangzhou'' setting! Generally the hotel rooms are comfortable, service is friendly. My only complaint...I requested a non-smoking room but was told (quite brusqely) when checking in, that they dont have non-smoking standard rooms, only the more expensive business rooms. I hope Victory you will reveiw and change this policy, as my otherwise good bedroom smelt of stale cigarettes for my 3 day stay. Really not acceptable in 2011 for a non-smoker. Apart from that, I recommend the hotel.
