Shenzhen is located in the very south of Guangdong Province. Overlooking Hong Kong to the south and bordering Kowloon, this area is commonly referred to as Hong Kong's "backyard". Although the population of the city is about 5 million, only 1.5 million people are legally registered permanent residents. The remainder are a bizarre mixture of businessmen, investors and illegal immigrants, all here in an attempt to get a share in the Special Economic Zone’s wealth.
There are many places to go shopping in Shenzhen, be it the retail street vendors or the branded shops nestled in malls. Luohu Commercial Centre, Shenzhen is an enclosed area which is six stories tall where you can get anything and everything. MixC Shopping Mall, Shenzhen is the skyscraper shopping mall of China. This shopping destination is expensive, however reliable. King Glory Plaza, Shenzhen is a duty free departmental Store which is located in Luohu region of Shenzhen.
August and September are the best seasons to visit when the temperature is pleasant and the days are long. Shenzhen has abundant rainfall particularly during May to September so make sure you bring your umbrella!
