Wrong room size, not helpful Be careful. The promotion rooms are not the same as the non-promotion despite having the same names - you''re not getting a better deal, just a worse room. The website said with and without promotion rooms were 22 square meters. Upon entering our room it was obviously very small. We asked nonchalantly and they said it was 16 square meters. I showed the people at the front my e-mail from Ctrip saying the room type and Ctrip''s website showing 22 square meters. They only said I paid for the cheaper room and it is smaller and the website is Ctrip''s problem. They did absolutely nothing to make me happier and the woman verbally assaulted my Chinese fiance. Completely unprofessional. By far my worst experience at a hotel in China and I''m very open minded about these things.I called Ctrip and was told they would give me a bounty of points which is fair enough I guess, and we did just stay in the room. It did not ruin our trip to Shanghai at all and the location was convenient enough to Nanjing Lu (for shopping) and the People''s Square and the Bund - you can walk to all - we also went to the Natural History Museum which is very close. So, it''s OK, but just realize the room sizes are not accurate. In fact they told us no room of this type is 22 square meters - only 20 square meters.

Our stay at Villas 1931 Hotel We stayed in this hotel for one night only. The staff was nice, our room was very small but clean. My only complaint would be the carpets both in our room and in the hallways. They were very dirty and old. So even though our room was fine otherwise, the worn-out and dirty carpet made the room look old and not well-kept.
